How can a car can run on [hemp oil]?

In this hemp car project, driving the length of Japan, a diesel bus manned by a crew of 20 staff, runs on hemp oil instead of diesel oil.

We transform hemp oil into ヤbio-diesel oilユ as following so that the car can get enough power.

In a big tank, the same amount of both hemp oil and methanol are heated after adding small quantities of a catalyser.

That produces methyl salicylate and glycerine, of which methyl salicylate turns into ヤbio-diesel oilユ.

The glycerine, which is a premix of viscosity, is made use of, after being precipitated in the setting tank.

Finally, ヤbio-diesel oilユ is completed a six after hour proces of cooling, filtration and storage.

In the year 2001, the Hemp car ran in North America.

The hemp car made a start, its whole distance of 10,000 mile (16,000 km) at Washington, DC on July 4th in 2001.

ヤHemp cultivation on 6% of the North American soil could fill all the demands of transportation and energy throughout the countryユ, [With legal permission for cultivation, industrial hemp will be an alternate fuel, cost effective and recyclable], said Mr Kelly Syglar, one of the event organisers.

The advantages of ヤbio-diesel oilユ as against diesel oil are;

1. It never produces sulphur oxide, which results in acid rain.

2. It emites less than one -third of the black smoke, which causes impediment of the apparatus respirators.

3. It costs the same as diesel oil (in case of using recycled food oil)
The heating value is;
bio-diesel oil: 9,600 kcal/kg
diesel oil: 10,930 kcal/kg
The bio-diesel costs 80 yen/kg (Someyaユs)

4. It is not necessary to remodel the car.

5. Mixing diesel oil and ヤbio-diesel oilユ reduces the largely harmful emissions and increases the lubricity. With 1% of ヤbio-diesel oilユ, the lubricity goes up 65%.
