The purpose of this project

Our civilisation in the twentieth-century, has used fossil fuel, which has given us a convenient and comfortable life style. On the other hand, it has produced problems such as global warming, air pollution, acid rain and endocrine-disrupting chemicals and which is becoming more services.
It is already obvious that the continuous usage of fossil fuel will cause the extinction of all the species.
In the twentieth century, we human beings have to build a new civilisation with no environmental burden.
As for an effective and possible material, more and more people are paying attention to Hemp worldwide.

You can cultivate Hemp rapidly, repeatedly and under most of the circumstances.
From this highly productive plant, most of the day-to-day necessities can be made, such as clothing, construction material, food, make up, paper, fuel, medicine and plastic.
The usage of hemp might help solving not only environmental problems but also economic problems by building a regional recycling orientated society, integrating agriculture and industry integrated.
Hemp, which has been cultivated since the ancient time of Jomon, is called ヤAsaユ in Japanese, and has cultural importance as the symbol of the Sun Goddess of the Shinto religion.
We have organised this project in order to let people around the nation understand the value of Hemp in the environment, economics and culture.

In this project, a car using hemp fuel travels down from the Northern most island to the Southern most island of Japan stopping at many events in various regions, and also a booth for food, clothing and shelter with hemp as theme is present.
The event organisers in various regions have plans to set up symposiums, workshops, concerts and booths in order to make unrecognised hemp known to the public through various forms of media such as TV, radio, newspaper, magazines and via the Internet.
We hope that these activities will be a synapse for as many people as possible and encourage them to take action to create the new co-existing civilisation and the nature.

The aim

This project will tell people all over Japan that the usage of hemp symbolises anti-fossil fuel. We aim at offering the opportunity to see how hemp can be made use of in the daily life or as a business.

The activities

1. To drive a car fired with hemp fuel for the first time in Japan.

Late March: Hemp oil, that is a kind of vegetable oil, was turned into bio diesel oil.

20-21 April: We offered the experience to ride in the hemp car on the Earth day (Yoyogi park in Tokyo).

2. The hemp car travels from Hokkaido to Kyushu. Various events are planned all over the country.

The hemp car will travel 5,000 km, it will take its route from Takikawa city, and end up in Kumamoto city.

Various events have taken place each weekend, and participants visit hemp-related cultural places on weekdays.

Our hemp project can link many things together,
and offer energy to the country.

This hemp car travel offers people the opportunity to rediscover the usage of hemp as a recyclable resource.
The keywords of the project are the global environment, the culture and life style.

The global environment
A natural resource with a lot of variety and possibilities for use. It should be recognised and made use of.

Culture
Precious traditional culture and wisdom should be maintained.

Life
The idea to change various current problems at the roots has to be presented.

We organised the hemp car project with the above-mentioned three words as keywords in order to develop this project in co-operation with various events all over the country.

Hemp is a precious biomes resource for human beings with various usages. Its cultivation cycle of one harvest per year suits the earth.
We hope that this peaceful event will bring information to encourage use of it in various fields.
Japanユs land has had strong ties with Hemp for many centuries.
In other words, that illuminates Japan in these modern days. The Hemp car runs on your prayer for peace.
